FREEZING MAN

PREVIOUS YEARS

FREEZING MAN VS BURNING MAN

Major Similarities

  • The escapist atmosphere
  • Freezing man is not a commercial endeavor– besides the general cost of admission to cover the infrastructure associated with the event, no money is exchanged during the 4 days
  • You are encouraged to create Freezing Man. Meaning you invent the events and host them
  • Regular party things like alcohol and loud music are generally deemphasized in favor of new and interesting experiences that is hard to have in normal circumstances

Major Differences

  • The heat and dust are replaced with cold and saunas
  • At least at this point, it’s smaller and more intimate
  • Freezing Man is 4 days vs 9 days for Burning Man
  • Emphasis hot instead of cold
    • Sauna/hot tub/snow
  • Instead of camping, we stay in yurts

Year Two/2022: Inward Bound

Year Two took place in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The event space was spread out over large mountain cabins within walking distance of eachother. There were many sessions in the steam room, hot tub, and sauna, holotropic breathing, judo, liquid nitrogen demonstrations, tibetan singing bowl sessions and much more. The theme was “Inward Bound,” and we encourage relaxation and reflection.

"You never change things by fighting the existing reality.

To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."

Year One/2021: Into the Wild

Freezing Man took place for the first time high in the Uinta Mountains of Utah with a small group of friends amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankful to see our friends for the first time in a long time, it was a bittersweet embrace of togetherness and belonging.

Snowmobiling was a key theme of the event as the Basecamp was only accessible by snowmobile. Everyone survived the event, though there were minor mishaps.
